ODM version 3.6 was launched in May 2010 and is still available to download. Note that we have since released the next major version of ODM - version 3.7. Both can be found on the ODM3 downloads page.

Watch a video of new features in ODM v3.6 here.

Below is a list of new features and improvements in ODM 3.6, each of which links to a more detailed explanation with examples.

Major Changes

  • A simplified ODM3 interface improves the overall user experience.
  • Enhanced suite of stratigraphy tools, including the introduction of time-based interpretation. You can now interpret using a scheme and automatically build a depth/age data set in the background which is used to display data in chronostratigraphic time. (PDF)
  • Improved Curve Group/Set Management makes it easier to manage curves in ODM3.
  • New data security model allows for Database Roles to be implemented and allows data access rights to be more stringently controlled.
  • Enhanced charting tools include the ability to copy/paste objects between charts and to insert rich-text boxes and callouts which link a selected point/depth to a rich text box.
  • A new ChartToolbar and Map Toolbar provide access to frequently-used commands. The Chart Toolbar lets you access new functionality including a new Snapshot tool, panel-grouping tools and access to new stratigraphic tools.
  • A new ‘Apply Well’ tool lets you produce charts that use a consistent layout based on a selected wellstick template, and can create Digital Wellbooks based on these (PDF).
  • Greatly improved Petrel Data Link provides a more seamless method of transferring data between ODM3 and Petrel. (PDF)
  • New ODM3 Database Synchroniser highlights differences between two ODM3 databases and allows data to be selectively imported.

Thanks Mike, just fixed it. It points to the 'smaller changes' page.

"ODM3 now handles 2-byte character data, so complies with standards such as Unicode and UTF-16, and can be run in any Regional setting."
