Here's some of the smaller but extremely useful changes we've made in ODM version 3.6:
Unicode Compliance ODM3 now handles 2-byte character data, so complies with standards such as Unicode and UTF-16, and can be run in any Regional setting. |
New Script Tool Script Tool A new Script Tool (select Tools > Script tool while a Chart is open) has been added to simplify the running of scripts on wells present within a chart. This lets the user run individual scripts or batches and immediately see the results within the current chart. |
Create a Blank ODM3 Database It’s now easier to create a blank ODM3 database. When launching ODM3, choose to 'create blank database'. You no longer need to download a blank database from our website. |
Data Browser Options to add a new row above and below the selected unit in the data browser - making it easier to work from the bottom up! |
Database Manager - Re-order data types Data types (e.g. Group) can now be re-ordered within data tables (e.g. Lithostratigraphy) in the Database Manager. Previously, data types appeared in the order in which they were create. |
Reports - Wells Summary Option to add/remove project wells in the Wells Summary Report. Just right-click on a well name and choose to add a well to the active project or to remove it from the active project. |
Export Reports Report contents may be exported to text file as tab- or comma-separated values. Option to save all wells to a single file, or create one file per well. CSV files can be opened directly in MS Excel. |
Well Properties - Userfields Names of the Userfields in the Well Properties can now be changed under Utilities > Options > Usefields. The settings applied here are applied to all wells in all projects. Note that userfields can no longer be renamed from the Well Properties dialog. |
Utilities - Well Data Maintenance Option to remove unit prefix/suffix for a selected data type, found under Utilities > Well Data Maintenance. You can now use wildcards in the search and replace fields of the Rename unit function. |
Project Browser - GIS Folders ODM will automatically create GIS folders based on the location of the GIS file on desk (for GIS files held in a sub-folder of the ODM database folder). A GIS folder can be dragged onto a map, automatically loading all files held therein. |
Project Browser - Re-order Wells The display order of wells within the Project Browser (for both grouped and un-grouped lists) can now be changed. In this example, wells are grouped by their Field name and ordered by the Well Name. |
Data Export - Tops/Bases Multiple picks (tops/bases) may now be exported, using Tops/Bases tool under the Export menu. |
Dictionary import and export tools can now be found under the appropriate import/export buttons in the main toolbar, instead of the Organiser menu. |
Replace data type in a Data Panel |
Drag and drop a Map onto a Chart |
Improvements to ties/correlations When you re-shape a tie (right-click and select Tie > Reshape tie) you no longer loose the tie name (as shown, right) Reshaping a tie no longer causes a loss of extended tie across panels. |
Adding Resources to a Map |
Automatic Chart Builder |
Print Preview Print buttons have been activated throughout ODM3 and a new Print Preview is now available. |
Database Users Option to link Database Users to Active Directory accounts, found under Database > Database Users. This enables users to be set up with the same login details as their Windows login, so that users are logged in automatically on launching ODM. This feature is still under development and can be activated as an experimental feature - please contact us if interested. |
Further Information
More detailed information on all of these changes is available in the ODM3 Helpfile.

Comments
the Automatic Chart builder option does not appear on the chart pulldown menu. The options on this menu are New Chart, Chart Manager and Apply Well Tool.
